Tackle It “Tool” Tuesday ~ Tackle It Tuesday is a day where in the Weekly Productivity Program we focus on tackling the task that we avoid the most or at least dread doing. For a lot of people that is blogging and writing their blog posts… some reasons are:
- it takes too much time – you can write blog posts as little as 250 words and if you are blogging on a topic that is your passion that is EASY!
- it is too hard – if you are using a wordpress based website, you cannot go wrong. They have the easiest and best interface for users!
- it is too hard to create a blog – NOPE you can have a professional one put together for you for FREE (click here to check it out) and then it is only $9.95 per month after the first thirty days to pay for your hosting and have support, this is a no brainer!
- everyone says it has to be SEO ready, what is SEO and I have no idea how to do that! This one we are going to talk about the best tool ever!
SEO is
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.
I have been introduced to a tool that I LOVE – it is called Measure My SEO and it is a plug-in for your wordpress blog site that will measure your SEO post score while you are writing it so you can make changes accordingly. It is such a simple guideline that ANYONE can use it and improve their post writing!
Measure My SEO – a tool to help all levels of bloggers!
There is a lot to learn about SEO and optimizing your entire blog site and we will cover more and more tips as we go – but this tool that is here and focuses on the SEO of the content in your single blog post is a GREAT place to start. It teaches you ways to look at what you are writing. It helps guide you into structure and format. It has been a blessing for me and my blog post writing for sure!
Check out what MeasureMySeo looks like in the back-end of your blog:
You have a small area below where you write your post to fill in your keyword you would like to be focused on, you put in your title, you fill in the description and then list your keywords from the entire post – not just the one you are focusing on and that is what it uses the check list to compare to. They give you some instructions and some hints for when you are writing your post – this is really a great tool.
With this SEO tool, I no longer forget to tag my posts properly. I no longer forget to put the correct “alt text” in for my images and I also remember to mix up my delivery of fonts and other formatting to make it more SEO friendly! A Total “SEO” Thumbs Up from our team!
